Jojo and Coco's Unexpected Love

Chapter 823 Are You Planning to Hang Out Here?

Chapter 823 Are You Planning to Hang Out Here?

From behind Joseph, Ophelia grumbled, "Why not install an elevator? Climbing stairs is so exhausting."

Noah signaled to a nearby helper through the corner of his eye and the latter immediately positioned themselves at the doorway. "Ms. Chloe isn't feeling well and is asleep right now. Allow me to show you to the next room for some tea."

"She's sick? What a coincidence. It just so happens that I brought a doctor with me," Joseph said. He clapped his hands and a man in a white coat promptly appeared.

Putting on a fake smile, Noah continued, "We have our own doctor, so your service isn’t needed. Coco has fallen asleep, so let's not make a ruckus here and wake her up. The tea is ready. Please follow me." This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

"I don't have time for tea. I have something important to ask Chloe. Go wake her up," Ophelia said as she looked at her watch impatiently.

"Xavia's not pregnant."

Ophelia's eyes brightened. "Really? Is it confirmed?"

"Yes. Anything else you want to ask?"

"No, but where's the evidence?"

"I don't have any. You can investigate further if you want. Check the pregnant women in the royal household and see if any of them are helping her."

Understanding dawned upon Ophelia. There were indeed a few helpers in the royal household who had recently become pregnant. It occurred to her that one of them might be helping Xavia.

“Understood. Bye-bye now."

Having gotten the information she wanted, Ophelia left without so much as a backward glance, leaving the two men behind.

Joseph looked at Noah, and the latter sneered back. "What's the matter, Mr. Joseph? Aren't you going to leave? Are you planning to hang out here?"

"I'm going to stay until Chloe wakes up," Joseph said firmly. He wanted to wait a bit longer and make sure that she was safe.

"You're quite devoted, but what's the use? Coco’s about to become my wife." Noah smirked, his eyes filled with mockery. "I’m going to go inside and keep Coco company. Mr. Joseph, please make yourself at home."

Joseph furrowed his brows but did not respond. He then pulled up a chair and sat down, positioning himself in a position that he could easily spit Chloe from if she emerged. He could not rashly enter her bedroom as it would be inappropriate. Although he cared not for Noah's opinion, he had to consider Desmond as he was Chloe's grandfather. And with Desmond around, Noah surely would not do anything to harm Chloe.

If it was true that she was resting as Noah claimed, it would mean that he was being oversensitive, but he was fine with that. He had come to understand that power, money, and fame were nothing. Humans were born without these things, and they could not be brought with them to the afterlife. Even if one appeared successful in the eyes of others, a life without someone to share it with was meaningless and hollow. Being with a loved one filled life with joy and laughter. And in this life, the only person he owed an apology to and he had reservations about letting go of was Chloe. He cared nothing for his reputation anymore.

"By the way," Noah said, "Chloe already knows about my connection to Duskfall."

Joseph was taken aback and he stared at Noah. "What do you mean?"

"Literally. I confessed to Chloe. She forgave me, and you don't stand a chance anymore. She says that everything that happened in the past stems from you. Though I've made mistakes, she has accepted them as she has long regarded me as family."

Joseph felt a lump form in his throat. He had been holding back his emotions, but suddenly, all his strength seemed to drain away. His imposing stature looked like it could collapse at any moment as helplessness overwhelmed him. He knew that Chloe was still upset with him. Compared to Noah, he truly had made many mistakes, and he was the root of all of them.
