Chapter 417 I Was So Lucky To Have You Around (Part Two)
"Oh, Violet..."
Carla was deeply moved by her words. But she knew how difficult it was for Violet to speak so many
well-wishes quickly.
"Enough, Carla. We were not only best friends in high school. We are still best friends and our
friendship will last forever! You know I won't forget you. When I settle myself down, I will then visit you
with my baby. Maybe he will call you 'godmother' then. And you might even have your own child by that
time!"
Violet faintly smiled at that last sentence. She reached out and embraced Carla tightly.
They hugged for a long time before they finally loosened their embrace. This might be the last time they
could see each other for a while.
After taking Violet back to her own house, Carla planned to stay for a while and keep her company. But Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
Violet saw through her and sent her home. She knew Carla was needed there.
Violet told Carla that since she was going to get married, there must be tons of things for her to deal
with. Wedding planning was arduous work. So Violet told her not to worry and go home as soon as
possible.
In the Seaview Villa.
Carla sat on a swing in the garden, absentmindedly swinging.
She was gazing at the sea blankly with a heavy heart.
She knew that not every relationship would end up happily ever after.
Even if you gave up everything you had for the one you love, sometimes all your efforts would be in
vain. Loving someone didn't guarantee that someone would love you back.
She wondered whether what William said in the room was true or not. Did he voluntarily leave Violet
because he really didn't love her?
Carla was busily thinking messy thoughts in her head. She wasn't aware that someone was coming
towards her.
"What are you thinking about so intently?"
Terence suddenly stood in front of her.
He saw that she seemed to be in a trance. She didn't even hear him coming. Whatever she was
thinking about, it evidently was weighing heavily on her mind.
Carla came to her senses and looked up at Terence, startled. He was wearing a grey sweater with a
deep neckline, standing in front of her with his hands in his pockets. He stared at her from head to toe,
looking confused.
After she stared up at him for a while, her neck was sore. She lightly shook her head and stood to face
him. The swing sung gently behind her. "Nothing. I'm fine."
"Really? Are you sure?" he asked doubtfully, raising his eyebrows. A slight breeze ruffled her hair. He
affectionately reached out and helped her tuck a lock of hair behind her ear.
Carla let out a slight sigh. He was so gentle to her. She turned to look at the water with her bright eyes.
She impulsively grabbed his hand and walked towards the sea. The wind was starting to pick up and
the sea was becoming choppy.
"I'm fine because we are able to be together!"
She suddenly and loudly screamed out to the sea.
Startled, Terence embraced her into his arms. He was grinning widely. "Why are you suddenly saying
that? Did what happened to Violet make you appreciate me more? You suddenly realized that you are
so lucky to have me, right?"
The sun shone brightly in the clear blue sky. They stood side by side looking out to the sea, hearing the
lapping sounds of the waves.
Carla looked up at him and saw her reflection in his teasing eyes. After a while, she said, "Terence,
why did you not give up on me? Why did you not give up on us? Where did you get the strength to see
things through?"
Did he never once want to give up on their relationship? There must have been times when it was
much easier to just give up.
Terence lowered his head and seriously stared at her.
"It's because of you," he replied with a grin spread across his face.
"It's simple. Because I want to be with you. You are worth it. So no matter how difficult things were, I
never once changed my mind."
Hearing Terrence, Carla's heart trembled. She didn't know if what he said was true or he was just
teasing her. Although she was incredibly moved by his words, there was still one nagging doubt at the
back of her mind.
"Me? What about me? I'm not special in any way." she asked.
Terence flicked her forehead, grinning widely. "Silly.
To this day, you still have no idea how amazing you are, don't you?"
"So you're saying that it is love that gives you the strength to overcome all those difficulties?" Carla
doubtfully questioned. She thought that it was because he had made a promise to her. And Terence
was a man who kept his word.
"Yes. Of course it is because I love you. What else could it be?
If I don't love you in the first place, or our relationship isn't close and deep enough, I wouldn't be able to
convince myself to survive all those crises," Terence replied solemnly as he stared deeply into her
eyes.
She gave him a suspicious glance and didn't know what to say. He walked a step forward and held her
waist with one of his hands. "Carla, when we met and fell in love, we didn't have a child and there was
no connection between our families. How can you not believe that I love you only because of you and
not because of all the other external factors?
If our relationship is not deep enough, it would have easily fallen apart due to all kinds of things.
Because if we don't love each other or can be easily replaced by anyone, there is no way we can be
together!"
Terrence paused for a few seconds and continued, "Carla, I know what you are thinking about. William
chose to leave Violet and move on, because he didn't love Violet. He didn't love her in the same way
that I love you or you love me. That's why he gave up on her so easily and quickly."
Terence voiced out what Carla had been thinking the whole day.
When Carla recalled what had happened in the ice house, she found that there was a clear line
between the mental and emotional needs of a man. Men can be passionate when they are in a
relationship. But when the relationship falls apart, they walk away like cold strangers.
"Tell me, Terence. If you were him, what would you have done?"
Carla asked out of fascination and curiosity.
