My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0427

Chapter 0427

Candice got up to answer the phone outside.

The background noise from Sawyer's end sounded loud, probably from a business dinner.

He didn’t usually call her without a reason so she asked, "Is there something you need?"

"Mr. Elysian has finished reviewing the materials for the modification of the Burning Star Studio plan. You can go to Aether Corporation and handle the subsequent funds. It's convenient since you're in Dorrington City now."

This was something that happened some time ago. Hanley had suddenly changed the original plan, and Alex had requested to review the new one.

"I'll go," Candice said.

"You should go tomorrow." Sawyer paused for a moment and reminded her, "It's almost the end of the month, and the finance department won't process transactions in the last two days."

He had a good point.

"Oh, by the way." Just when Candice was about to hang up, he suddenly added, "Mr. Elysian is having dinner with Mr. Kemp tonight. This cooperation is crucial, and he really can't get away—"

"Is there anything else?" Candice didn't want to hear about Alex's work matters.

"That's all."

Candice hung up, turned around, and saw Hanley coming out with a coat.

He raised his eyebrows slightly. "I thought you would stay outside for a while longer."

She raised her phone and said, "Sawyer called and asked me to go to Aether Corporation's finance department tomorrow."

Under the light, Hanley's eyes looked particularly gentle. He didn't say anything, just lowered his head and put the coat he was holding on her. "It's chilly at night. Don't catch a cold."

"Thank you," she murmured.

Her voice was low, and she looked visibly troubled.

"I'll ask my senior about the lawyer,” Hanley said. “Even if Quil is powerful, with your solid evidence, he won't be able to turn the tables easily. Otherwise, wouldn't the law be too fragile?"

Candice tightened the coat around her, forcing a smile. "I'm just a little worried."

If they couldn't completely bring down Sonia this time, then it would probably be difficult to find another chance in the future.

Candice wasn't someone who believed in fate, but recent events often made her feel an uncontrollable sense of powerlessness.

She was also afraid.

Afraid that she couldn't even make the real culprit of her grandfather’s death be punished, afraid that he would blame her for being useless.

She was afraid that he had left the world without any peace.

Candice took a deep breath, clutching the coat, and looked at the street lamp outside. In the cold winter, only that dim light could dispel some of the fog and bring warmth to people.

-

The next morning, Hanley offered to accompany her to Aether Corporation. However, Candice knew that the construction site had reached its final stage, and it was the time when people were needed the most. She declined his offer.

Nadia sat on the sofa reading the newspaper, looked up and said, "Candice, let the Boss go with you. It'll ease his worries. After he knew you were injured in Solaris, he rescheduled his trip to Solaris overnight."

Although Nadia said it casually, Hanley cleared his throat and looked at Candice. "Let's go."

Caught in the situation, Candice found she couldn’t disagree. They headed off together.

They arrived at Aether. She was more familiar with the process of going to Aether Corporation's finance department than anyone else. With Alex's pre-approval, everything went smoothly.

When she was downstairs at the entrance, she bumped into Tamia and Kayla. They pulled Candice aside to catch up.

Seeing Kayla looking like she was about to go out, Candice asked, "Are you going out to meet a client?"

Kayla waved her hand, "Not really, just waiting for someone here."

"Harley Zott of Southern Cross Firm. Do you know her? She's here at Aether Corporation today, I'm here to meet her."

Harley Zott.

Candice focused on the name.

The Southern Cross Firm was already a top law firm in Dorrington City, and it had been collaborating with Aether Corporation headquarters for a long time.

She had also heard of Harley's reputation, a female lawyer who was once extremely popular a few years ago.

It was said that her most impressive record was appearing in court 18 times in one month without a single loss.

Candice's heart suddenly stirred. She looked up and met Hanley's gaze and saw the same intention reflected in his eyes.

She asked Kayla, "When is Ms. Zott coming?" This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.

"Soon." Kayla had just finished speaking when two women entered through the door.

The one walking in front was around 40 years old, with neat, ear-length hair, dressed in a black professional suit, and wearing a pair of gold-framed glasses on her nose, giving her a competent look.

Candice immediately recognized her as Harley.

She hadn't met Harley before; she had only heard about her from Daniel.

Kayla had already gone up to greet her respectfully, saying, "Ms. Zott."

Harley responded briefly and followed Kayla.

"Um, excuse me," a crisp voice sounded behind her. Candice turned around and saw the young woman who had been following Harley smiling at her. "Can I pass through?"

Candice realized that she was blocking her way and stepped aside.

The young woman gave her a lovely smile and walked after Harley.

Candice saw her work badge, which read, "Zoe Skylar, intern lawyer".

Candice had originally planned to visit some law firms after finishing her business at Aether Corporation. Since Yana and Hanley were so concerned, she couldn't rely on others for everything. But now that she had encountered Harley, her plans had to change a bit.

She decided to wait for when Harley came back down and see if there was any hope with her.

It wasn't that she didn't know about making appointments; she had just checked the appointment schedule of Southern Cross Firm on her phone, and Harley's schedule for the next month was quite full.

Hanley also had many things to attend to, so Candice didn't ask him to stay.

After Hanley left, she waited for more than half an hour before Kayla finally brought Harley down.

Seeing that she hadn't left yet, Kayla was surprised. "Candice, do you still have something to do?"

Candice nodded slightly and then walked up to Harley. Her attitude was very sincere and earnest as she addressed her. "Hello, Ms. Zott, may I take up a little of your time?"

Harley spoke directly as she glanced at her watch and said, "You have five minutes."

Candice felt relieved. She was worried that Harley wouldn't even give her a chance to speak.

She adjusted her emotions, looked at Harley, nodded slightly, and spoke humbly, "I would like to ask you to handle a lawsuit for me."

Harley paused and said, "There are many people who want me to handle their lawsuits. You can make an appointment at Southern Cross Firm."

After saying that, she walked away. Candice hurried after her. "Ms. Zott, I'm sorry for bothering you like this, but I really have no better option. Their lawyer is Quil Lawson. Could you please give me a little more time?"

Candice chased Harley out of the Aether Corporation doors. As soon as they stepped out, the cold wind blew on her face, making her look unusually pale.

"Quil?" Harley looked at her thoughtfully.

After a moment, she pointed to a nearby café. "Let's talk there."
