Chapter 1379
As Colt was about to push open the wrought iron gate, Harold stepped in, saying, "Hold on, we can't just barge in!" Colt paused, his hand hovering over the gate. Harold moved forward and explained, "The Aldridge estate might seem deserted, but its security is top-notch. With that, Harold used facial recognition and a passcode to unlock the gate. Even though he'd left the Aldridge family, being the heir had its perks this gate couldn't keep him out. Seeing Harold's ease reassured Joseph, who had been anxious about the possibility of a trap now that the Aldridge family seemed to have vanished.
Forcing this gate open would set off the alarms in no time. Plus, there are all sorts of traps inside. Trigger one by accident, and we're in for a world of trouble."
With such a sophisticated security system, anyone trying to break in would only end up regretting it. Once Harold had the gate open, he advised, "Stick with me. If you set off some hidden alarm or something goes wrong, don't expect me to save you."
Trusting Harold's judgment, Joseph signaled to his men to follow suit. As they finally stepped into the grand hall of the Burke Estate, they were blown away by its true splendor. The Burke Estate had always been cloaked in mystery, mainly because it was so exclusive. Seeing it with their own eyes, they realized just how wealthy the estate really was.Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
The hall was not only spacious, but even the tea cups seemed priceless, and antique ornaments were scattered around, exuding an understated elegance. Each piece was a rare find in its own right. The Aldridge family was indeed swimming in wealth.
Joseph's crew couldn't hide their awe, but Joseph himself was preoccupied with thoughts of hidden treasure. Turning to James, Joseph asked, "You mentioned the Devonport treasure is hidden in the Aldridge estate. Is that really true?"
"Absolutely," James replied casually. "Back in the day, the four major families discovered the Devonport treasure. To keep it safe from thieves, they pooled their resources to move it from the mountains and stash it here, in the most secure place the Aldridge estate. After all, the safest place is often the least expected one. No one's ever suspected the treasure was with the Aldridge family."
Hearing this, Joseph nodded. "The

this."
James turned to Harold, "Mr. Aldridge, when you were with the family, did you ever hear anything about where the treasure might be?"
"I have no idea," Harold said coolly "My brother's always been in charge. If I needed to know something, he'd tell me. If not, he wouldn't say a word."
James shrugged, "Well, then, we'll just have to search the place. Mr. Aldridge, you don't mind, do you?"
"Go ahead," Harold replied without hesitation. Joseph gestured, and his men began scouring the Burke Estate.
Settling into a plush sofa in the
grand hall, Joseph remarked, "I've
always heard about the vast gardens and endless rooms of the Aldridge estate. At this pace, who knows if we'll find anything by noon?"
"Whatever it takes, we gotta give it a shot," responded James.
