Millie had guessed it right.
“Is it really you?” she asked with a frown. She struggled to suppress her shock but managed to maintain a composed facade.
Winston hummed in response, swirling his wine glass as he observed Millie in amusement.
Millie couldn’t believe it. So, she turned to look at James, who awkwardly nodded.
Indeed, this time around, there were no stronger competitors than Winston and Simon. Now, James was caught in a dilemma. Should he grant the land to Winston or Simon?
In truth, it didn’t matter to whom he gave it. He believed both men would make full use of the land.
The problem was that Greer Group had a well–established system and didn’t require assistance. Harrison Corporation, on the other hand, had the growth potential. Hence, James reckoned he should help a company like that.
However, supporting Harrison Corporation might offend Winston.
James was puzzled, too. Initially, when this land was first made available, Greer Group showed no interest. Yet, after releasing the competitors‘ information, Winston suddenly wanted it.
‘Millie massaged her temples. She could feel a headache coming. After a while, she asked Winston,” Do you really need this land?”
Winston narrowed his eyes. What did she mean by that?
Millie was about to speak when he reminded her, “Darling, helping outsiders might not be the wisest
move.
Right then, James cleared his throat and asked in a hushed tone, “Mr. Greer, Millie, are you two having an argument?”
He sensed awkward tension between them. Millie and Winston turned to look at James almost simultaneously.
She answered, “No.”
“Yes,” Winston responded.
Their voices echoed in unison.
“Um…” James was at a loss for words.
After that, Winston gazed at Millie and said, “I’m sorry you had to witness that, Mr. Davis. We’ve been having some arguments lately, and she’s throwing tantrums.”
Millie frowned, glaring at Winston. She thought he was shameless for trying to portray them as a loving couple in public.
Suddenly, Paisley burst into laughter and remarked, “It’s okay. Young women are easy to coax. You
just have to comfort her!”
Millie lowered her head and fell silent. There was no chance Winston would comfort her. After all, he was a typical man. Every ounce of tenderness he had was given to Joanna.
Winston looked at James again and spoke seriously, “Mr. Davis, please consider granting this land to
me.”
Millie gave Winston a sidelong glance. Was he actually asking for a favor? She was surprised to discover that there were projects he had to plead for. It was truly a rare occurrence.
While she was silently mocking Winston, James suddenly asked, “Millie, what do you think? Who should get this land?”
Millie was stunned. It was as if someone had splashed a bucket of cold water over her. Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.
Why did James ask her? This was no trivial matter, so how could she just decide who would get it? “Dad, why ask her that? Millie obviously hopes you’ll give it to her husband,” Paisley teased.
› Millie’s expression froze upon hearing that. She couldn’t help but feel guilty. In actuality, she didn’t
want James to grant the land to Winston.
She stole another glance at Winston before saying, “I doubt the Greer Group needs this land.”
Winston frowned at those words as a wave of displeasure washed over him. Milie’s remark clearly suggested she wanted James to grant the land to Simon. They weren’t even divorced yet, and she was already protecting Simon.
Thinking about it, Winston seethed with anger. He grabbed his suit jacket and stood up.
“Mr. Davis, we’ll discuss this later,” Winston said sharply. Then, he looked at Millie.
All of a sudden, Millle had a bad feeling. Immediately after, Winston grabbed her wrist and tried to lead her away.
But she didn’t want to follow him. Thus, he scooped her up without hesitation.
Winston’s cold lips brushed against Millie’s ears as he threatened, “Millie Caldwell, if you don’t want Harrison Corporation to face a crisis because of you, you’d better obey me!”
