Logan struggled to judge the relationship between Winston, Millie, and Joanna due to its complicated

nature.

Joanna grabbed Logan’s arm and walled pitifully, “Logan… Logan…”

Sighing, Logan knew that Joanna’s feelings were his weakness. He tapped her on the forehead.

She said between sobs, “Logan, I really want to marry Winston.”

“I’ll help you,” he replied with a sigh. “You’re the one and only precious daughter of the family. We’ll get you everything you want.”

Tears fell down her cheeks. Hugging Logan, she whimpered, “Thank you, Logan.”

Instead of heading home, Winston dropped by the cardiac surgery department. There, he found Millie looking out the window by the corridor, giving off a hint of loneliness.

She sighed deeply and spent some time to collect herself before returning to the office. She turned around only to stare into Winston’s deep eyes.

He was steps away from her. Placing his hand in his pocket, he appeared exhausted. They stared at each other in silence until he walked away.

Millie smiled bitterly at the thought of Winston hugging and comforting Joanna earlier. She silently watched him leave without stopping him.

She heard a chime from her phone. Checking her phone, she saw a push notification for the latest

news.

“New Congratulatory Statement From James Davis: Greer Group Secures C3G Land Approval Near Yerwick Airport; Harrison Corporation Eliminated From the Race.”

Winston appeared to have won the parcel of land, where he would build a manor for Joanna. Millie assumed she must have divorced him by the time the manor was built, just in time for him to marry Joanna.

She tapped into he though.”

WhatsApp chat with Simon. She sent him a text to comfort him. “Good job,

His reply came instantly. “I’ve anticipated this to happen. Harrison Corporation was no match for the Greer Group.

He could only consider it rotten luck to come across a formidable opponent like Winston..

What irked him the most was Eli’s attendance at the meeting in place of Winston. It showed that Winston had no respect for them at all.

“Why don’t we have dinner tonight?” he asked.

“Sure.” She put away her phone and dived into work.

Simon spotted Winston at the hospital entrance when he arrived to pick up Millie. Winston had grabbed dinner for Joanna.

Millie and Winston exchanged looks before looking away in sync. They passed each other calmly without exchanging greetings.

She looked down as she walked toward Simon.

“What’s with you and Winston?” Simon asked, sounding surprised

She had been quarreling with Winston days ago, yet they seemed oddly at peace today.

Millie hopped into his car and buckled the seatbelt. “Joanna tried to take her life because of him.”

“I thought she was fooling around. Was it true?” Simon gasped.

She nodded and looked to the entrance of the inpatient department, silently deciding to end things with Winston.

“Don’t be sad. I’ll treat you to anything you want,” Simon said, sounding slightly delighted.

Smiling, she countered, “I should buy you dinner because you lost the bid to Greer Group. Isn’t that so?”

“No difference. Let’s find comfort in each other.” He shrugged, indicating that both of them were

unlucky.

Resting her chin in her palm, Millie looked out of the car window. The light in her eyes dimmed. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

Simon repeatedly stole glances at Millie and looked away. While waiting at the red light, he suddenly called out to her, “Millie.”

“Hm?”

A short silence later, he adjusted his gold–rimmed glasses and pursed his lips. After some hesitation, he blurted out, “Shall we give it a try?”
