meddling only complicated matters. He was reluctant to engage in such underhanded tactics, but
Sienna had threatened to cut off his allowance and kick him out of their luxurious mansion if he
refused. Money spoke volumes in their world, after all. However, Ronald also wanted to see Cordelia,
so he came.
"Well, since your student is here, I'll make myself scarce," Ronald said, handing over some
photographs he'd brought with him. "These are all yours." With that, he made his exit.
Downstairs in the garden, Sienna was anxiously waiting for Ronald. As he sauntered over, she asked,
"How did it go?"
"Er, it was okay," Ronald replied, careful not to upset Sienna. He didn't mention that Callum had called
Cordelia 'mom', instead, he said, "One of her students, Harold, came by to deliver some eggs."
"Really?" Sienna's face lit up with triumph. Harold was from Birchwood College and given enough time,
Cordelia would surely give in. "Don't tell Samantha about this. She's taken a fancy to Harold."
"Taken a fancy to Harold?" Ronald tried to recall Harold's appearance. A handsome young lad, tall, with
an impressive build, he was probably a few years younger than Samantha, considering he was still in
school. "Samantha has good taste."
Sienna shot Ronald a disdainful glance, "Get lost! Samantha is about to lose the lead role."
"As long as she has enough to get by, what's the big deal? Isn't this better than our days in Roseville?"
Sienna ignored Ronald. She wished she could replace him as well. Look at him, with no ambition at all.
...
"Mom, mom, can you make me some egg tarts?" Callum was beside himself with joy, standing by the
sofa and calling out to Cordelia.
Upon hearing the child call her 'mom', Cordelia had no choice but to agree, thinking to herself, she'd
have to take things one step at a time.
Callum also shouted it deliberately for Harold to hear. He could see that Harold had feelings for
Cordelia. As expected, when Harold heard Callum call Cordelia 'mom', he clenched his fists tightly.
Even if he was conflicted, he knew that he loved Cordelia as well as Mr. Evans.
"Callum, you know Cordelia is your mom now?" Harold squatted in front of Callum, holding his arm.
"I just found out."
"Now that you know, will you listen to your mom? She loves you very much," Harold gave Callum a little
squeeze.
Seeing the gentle expression on Harold's face, Callum felt a pang of guilt for hurting him. He softly
called out, "Harold..."
"I'm leaving now." Harold ruffled Callum's hair and exited the room.
Cordelia stood there, dumbfounded.
Callum stared at Cordelia. "You're my mom? I'm so happy to have such a beautiful, and wealthy mom.
Why did you divorce my dad? I swear, he hasn't been with any woman in the past three years." Callum
raised his right hand, making a solemn vow.
Cordelia laughed, "What do you know, you're just a kid."
"Anyway, my dad is handsome and rich. Don't let him slip away," Callum's eyes twinkled mischievously.
A moment later, the reality of having a mother seemed to dawn on him. He hugged Cordelia tightly,
whispering "mom".
Tears welled up in Cordelia's eyes. It turned out that all this while, the one word that could heal her was
'mom'. It filled all the cracks in her heart.
