Chapter 483
Chapter 483
After a long silence, Ronan went upstairs. Cordelia was upstairs playing happily with the kid. When she
saw him, she immediately put on a stern face.
"Are you giving me an attitude?" Ronan asked her, and then, he turned to their son, Callum, "Callum,
it's bedtime."
Callum, sensing his parents needed privacy, excused himself to his bedroom downstairs.
Ronan approached Cordelia, suddenly pulling her into an embrace. Cordelia rested her head against Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
Ronan's chest, listening to his strong heartbeat. She wondered what had gotten into him tonight.
"I'll accompany you to the hospital tomorrow, okay?" he suggested gently.
"I don’t need you to come." Cordelia instinctively refused. Even if she had to go, she didn't want him,
the root of her problems, to accompany her.
"Come on. You don’t need to pretend to be tough." Ronan said.
That night, he was on Cordelia, kissing her deeply. Cordelia resisted instinctively, afraid of his
overwhelming desire. Her hands were clenched tightly.
"I won’t touch you." he promised.
"Aren't you always quite the liar?" Cordelia asked him.
Ronan didn't answer. Instead, he kissed her passionately once again.
The next day, Cordelia's pain did not subside. It was getting worse. Ronan took her to Victoria's clinic.
Victoria was an OB/GYN, and Cordelia wanted to see how she was doing after three years of no
contact.
As Cordelia was examined, Ronan waited outside.
"Cordelia?" Victoria couldn't believe her eyes, "Where have you been all these years?"
Victoria examined Cordelia, still the same natural beauty, but there was a new depth and wisdom in her
eyes.
"I was in the UK, doing my PhD." Cordelia admitted sheepishly, feeling a bit awkward as she hadn't
contacted anyone in years.
"I know. After your check-up, I have something to tell you." Victoria said, intriguing Cordelia. They
hadn't seen each other in years. What could Victoria have to say?
As Victoria continued examining Cordelia, she muttered, "Who did this to you? The bastard, he's torn
you. Is it Ronan again?"
Cordelia blushed, knowing exactly what Victoria meant by 'torn'. She nodded, confirming Victoria's
suspicion.
"He's nearing forty." Cordelia said.
"Forty? Men like him are like that their entire lives." Victoria scoffed at the mention of 'forty'.
Cordelia gave an awkward laugh.
As Victoria filled out the prescription, she mentioned, "A while back, someone came asking about your
blood type and your child's. They also wanted all your medical records. Does this have anything to do
with your absence for the past three years?"
Victoria held Cordelia's hand in hers, comforting her. "Cordelia, have you tried to investigate this? Or
asked Mr. Evans to look into it? He's quite capable."
Cordelia nodded in agreement.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Harold.
"Hello, Harold."
"Ms. Haselwood, Sean and Sally returned yesterday. Why haven't you? Is everything alright?" Harold
asked, concerned.
"Well, nothing to worry about. I'm in Millstone, spending some time with my son. I'll be back in a few
days."
"That's good." Harold said before hanging up.
"Who was that? His voice sounds pleasant." Victoria asked.
"By the way, have you found anyone special these past few years?" Cordelia asked Victoria, "You’re
not getting any younger."
Victoria started complaining, "Don’t remind me. Every time my mom asks, I wonder where I'm
supposed to find the time. I work every day, barely have time to breathe. All I see are patients giving
birth."
Cordelia handed Victoria a piece of paper with her new number, "Let's keep in touch."
"Sure, call me when you're ready for your second child."
