Chapter 121 As Long As You Are Happy
Chapter 121 As Long As You Are Happy
"I'm not doing very well. The next day, right after your husband heard me saying that I love you, I have
been handling people from the industrial and commercial bureau, the tax bureau and the labor bureau,
all kinds of bureaus anyway. They have been investigating my company ever since then. It's quite
upsetting. They thought that I must have done something illegal."
Fortunately, Sum was a decent business man and so there was nothing they could find to use against
him.
However, there would always be at least one black sheep among hundreds of employees in the
company. "Everything was fine until they took away my general manager and CFO in the name of so-
called bribery and embezzlement."
As the CEO, Sum was unwillingly involved in the mess his subordinates had made. And he was This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
brought in several times to help the investigation.
He had never thought Samuel was behind all this until the police told him that he had messed with
someone he shouldn't have. And that person had given strict orders for a thorough investigation of the
Moon Company to be carried out. No stone should be left unturned.
Ella didn't say anything after hearing what Sum said. She was actually wondering why Samuel had let
Sum go off so easily. It turned out he had done much more than she knew behind her back.
The question was, did Samuel do all this to Sum because he loved her or simply because of his own
pride and ego?
"About that night. Do you know who did that to us?" She asked while staring at Sum with uncertainty.
She hadn't figured out yet what to do to work things out between her and Sum.
The only thing Ella could be sure was that she didn't want to hurt Sum at all. But she also knew that
Samuel wouldn't be satisfied if Sum didn't get hurt. And if Samuel was not satisfied, he will continue to
pick on Sum. He had already written the indictment, and he could submit it anytime he felt like it.
Sum shook his head and said, "I was planning to do some research. But I haven't got the time since I
have too much on my plate at the moment." Though he knew it was urgent, he really had neither the
time nor the energy to worry about it.
Samuel didn't cut him slack even after the police had taken his general manager and CFO into custody.
He was still making trouble every now and then, and it had seriously affected the Moon Company's
share price in a really bad way.
It seemed that Sum knew nothing more than she did about that night. Ella then decided that she must
focus on Emma and Catherine if she wanted to know the truth.
Half an hour later.
"Sum, I think we'd better keep a distance from each other from now on. Don't worry. I never told
Samuel you were also there that night." If Samuel had known it was Sum who had almost raped Ella
that night, not only Sum's company but himself would have been wiped out from the planet.
Saying nothing, Sum simply stared at Ella. He felt like his heart had been torn apart and it was dripping
in agony.
He had loved her for years, and she just told him to keep a distance from her. His mind raced as his
heart broke.
"Ella, do you really love Samuel that much? Is he worth it? Are you willing to give up on your friends
just for him?" Sum raised his tone emotionally.
Ella reached for her cup and took a small sip of her coffee. It was getting cold. Then she looked out of
the window and smiled, "Sum, I love him. And he is really nice to me now. Do you know what
happened to me that night after I got out? I was in the hospital. But they couldn't find a way to deal with
the drugs in my body. And it was Samuel. He showed up and saved me at the last minute when he was
supposed to be in Korea."
Sitting opposite her, Sum could see the smile on her face clearly. It was not a smile of mocking or
anything. He could tell it was a genuine happy smile. She loved Samuel truly.
The soft winter sunbeam shone through the glass window and fell on Ella like a halo shining around her
in that afternoon in the cafe.
Sum raised his cup and gulped down the liquid as if it had been an alcoholic spirit. If only he could get
drunk at that moment.
The coffee was bitter, but obviously not as bitter as how he felt deep in his heart.
Sum was immersed in his own bitterness and remained silent. In front of him, Ella also said nothing to
disturb him.
Eventually, Sum came around and decided to let go. "Ella, as long as you are happy, I'll ask for
nothing." Then he gave Ella a warm smile. All of a sudden, the Sum from their college days had
traveled through time and coincided with the man sitting opposite Ella.
"Thank you, Sum. We will be friends forever." Ella replied in gratitude. She really meant it and she
never wanted to lose a loyal friend as Sum.
Sum had always been so nice to her. And he had helped her out more than she could have ever asked
for. Ella remembered them all and swore to herself that someday she would find a way to return the
favor.
Sum had some urgent business and left early after their conversation. Ella decided to try and help Sum
out in her own way.
She took out her phone and sent Samuel a text on his WeChat, "Samuel, can you stop your orders
against Sum's company?"
"No way." Samuel soon replied with those two words.
Ella sighed and replied, "Sum has helped me so much in my life. Please, it looks ungrateful. I promise
you I won't see him again."
Ella had decided to keep her promise and never see Sum again for Samuel's sake. She would only
meet him again unless she had to. And she would tell Samuel first before meeting him, ensuring that
she had company when she did meet him.
She waited for quite some time until she saw Samuel's reply, "Say you love me."
Ella couldn't help burst into giggles at his childish request.
However, with a happy smile on her face, she still sent him what he wanted to hear, "Samuel, I love
you.
Samuel, I love you.
Samuel, I love you."
Important things must be repeated three times, so she sent the words three times to him.
With his lips slightly quirked up, Samuel took a screenshot and saved the image in the album.
After sending the texts, Ella suddenly realized that Samuel had said nothing in return.
It was so unfair! Then she put her cellphone back in her purse and began to think how she could make
him say he loved her after he got home that night.
Sum had taken care of the bill when he left. So Ella left the cafe and drove directly to Emma's office.
She could sit down and have a calm conversation with someone who was nice to her, someone like
Sum. But she wouldn't even consider the idea if the person was either Emma or Catherine!
Ella had obtained the address of Emma's company in advance. So she went up straight to Emma's
office, after parking her car in the parking lot.
Hardly had Ella stepped into the lobby when she was stopped by the receptionist.
Ella sighed and said, "Tell Emma I'm here. And my name is Ella." Ella introduced herself so arrogantly
that the receptionist had no idea what to do but hurriedly contact Emma's assistant.
The assistant glanced at Emma's office and answered back, "Don't you know Mr. Fei is here? They are
discussing major business and she is not available. Just tell her to make another appointment and
send her away."
The receptionist conveyed honestly what Emma's assistant told her, "I'm sorry. Ms. Gu is busy with Mr.
Fei. I can take a message or you can come back another time."
How could Ella walk away without at least having a word with Emma! So Ella replied casually, "That's
fine. On with your business. I can wait here." She said while pointing at the couch in the lobby.
"Suit yourself then!" The receptionist eyed her and mumbled silently, then she left Ella waiting on her
own.
However, what she didn't see was that Ella had sneaked into the elevator when she turned her back to
Ella.
Ella was careful enough to look around to make sure no one noticed her before entering the elevator.
When the receptionist had found Ella was no longer on the lobby, she simply thought she had gone.
She didn't take it as a big deal and soon went back to her work.
Though Ella had made it into the elevator, she soon had another problem to worry about. She didn't
know which floor Emma's office was in.
Why was it difficult to see Emma? It was beginning to feel like a hard task, perhaps foreshadowing their
confrontation. Ella thought.
