Chapter 153
Chapter 153
The doctor had said that her spine was misaligned. After a minor surgery to correct it, her back was
now immobilized in a brace, and she was unable to move her upper body.
She tried to shift slightly to ease the soreness in her lower back, turning her gaze towards the door just
as Brian came in, carrying a food tray in his hand.
Their eyes met for a moment before Natalie looked away, shifting her body to the other side.
Brian glanced at her turned back, walked over to the bed, and sat down. He pulled up the small
overbed table and began to unpack the food tray, laying out its contents.
Natalie had barely eaten anything that morning, and the scent of the food caused her stomach to
audibly protest from hunger. Yet, driven by pride, she chose to ignore it and closed her eyes, feigning
indifference.
Brian got a bowl of oatmeal and picked up a few pieces of the light vegan dishes she used to enjoy. He
sat on the other side of the bed. With a cranking motion, he raised the head of the hospital bed a bit
and propped a pillow under Natalie’s shoulders.
Forced to sit up, Natalie frowned and said in a low voice, “I don’t want to eat.”
As if he hadn’t heard her, Brian blew on a spoonful of oatmeal and brought it to her lips.
Natalie pursed her lips, unmoved.
Brian took a deep breath to calm himself, set the bowl back on the table, and took the spoonful into his
mouth.
Before Natalie could react, he pinched her cheek and frowned as he leaned down.
“Mmph…” With her torso fixed in a brace, Natalie couldn’t struggle and her mouth was easily pried
open, the warm oatmeal slipping inside.
Her face flushed in an instant to evade his firm grip, but Brian effectively blocked her mouth, pressing
his lips against hers, and forcing her to swallow the oatmeal.
The feeding struggles over a single spoonful of oatmeal lasted several minutes, leaving her lips
swollen.
“You’re shameless!” she exclaimed angrily the moment Brian let go.
Brian was used to her insults. Without expression, he picked up the bowl again, scooping another
spoonful to her swollen lips.
“Your choice. Eat quietly by yourself, or let me feed you,” he murmured, his gaze locked onto her
shimmering, swollen lips.
His intense look held her in place. After a few seconds of locked eyes, Natalie begrudgingly opened her
mouth in submission.
After most of the bowl of oatmeal was finished, Brian asked, “Are you full?”
12:42
“Yes,” Natalie responded with a frown.
Brian turned away, fetched another bowl of oatmeal, and began to eat with the utensils Natalie had
used, unhurriedly and in silence.
Natalie watched him, saying nothing.
Natalie thought he was leaving, but instead, he took a laptop Reid handed him and settled down on the
nearby couch, starting a video conference.
After a few minutes, Reid tapped on the door and brought in two paper bags, placing them by the door.
Natalie glanced at the bags, which contained clean clothes for changing, some for her, and some for
Brian.
She frowned involuntarily, shifting her gaze to Brian. Was he planning to spend the night in the
hospital?NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.
