Chapter 152
Chapter 152 You Should’ve Kept Quiet
“It doesn’t matter what kind of a person she is, Errol. If | let her go, then my company is going to lose a valuable asset. You know what it takes to be a businessman.”
Errol nodded, “I do. I'll try to persuade Aunt Tess, but you can’t afford to go soft if there’s anything suspicious about Hope. Otherwise, you'll end up getting hurt again.”
“Okay.” The video call ended at that. Maia’s mind was in a mess. She could not be sure if it was due to the crazy incident last night or her episode with Aunt Tess today.
Why did everything have to come at her all at once? Maia had a headache. She recalled what Errol said as she laid on the couch.
Did Hope sign a lifetime contract with Sunny Videos? What was going on? Was this why Nebula Entertainment refused to give in this whole time?
Maia was confused. She picked up her phone and called Buck immediately. “You called me on a weekend, Ms. Maia! Are you coming to my house for dinner?”
“| can’t say no to that. | guess I'll have dinner there.” She had not even thought of what she would have for dinner. Now that had Buck invited her, she had to go.
“It's decided, then. I'll buy some ingredients later.” “Sure.” Maia then asked, “Buck, did you know that Hope signed a contract with Sunny. Videos?”
“| didn’t know about it at first. Dawn from the Public Relations Department said Nebula Entertainment only came to know about it after they were bought over.”
“Did you say they only knew about it after the acquisition? There are many entertainment companies that would kill to sign a contract with Sunny Videos. Nebula Entertainment could’ve leveraged that to raise their price!”
“Perhaps the owner wasn’t business—savvy enough. Aside from Hope, they didn’t manage to turn anyone else into a star. They signed on a couple hundred trainees, but none of them worked out. Sunny Videos signing a contract with them was an insane move.”
Buck was dumbfounded over it too. Maia was initially confused, but she seemed to have understood something after listening to what he said.
She frowned. There was only one explanation.
Cedric. Sunny Videos belonged to him. He called the shots about who they signed contracts with. If he was truly behind it, what was his purpose for signing a contract with Nebula. Entertainment? Did he do it for her?
Maia did not have to courage to continue that train of thought. She shook her head. She was even more confused now. “Ms. Maia?” Buck called out to her several times before she realized he was still on the phone.
“Huh?”
“What's on your mind, Ms. Maia?” Buck asked questioningly.
“It's nothing, I’m just a little worn out.” She was actually exhausted.
“Did you sleep well last night? Were you at the club or the office all night?”
Maia’s face paled. She shuddered to think about what happened last night.
She had not been up all night at the club or the office. Instead, she had sex with Cedric all night long. What's worse, she was forced to do it! She would rip him to pieces if she could!
“Hello? Ms. Maia? Did you fall asleep?” Buck asked again. Maia continued to talk to him for a while before hanging up. Maia’s exhaustion came crashing down all at once. She fell asleep on the couch.
The sun was shining bright outside. Prismara Hill was covered fully in mist.
Baz looked at Cedric from the back, but he did not dare to approach his master.
“What are you doing out here, Baz?” Oswald asked. “You've been standing here for half an hour now!”
Baz shook his head, “Mr. Cedric was staring at the hills again. He’s been that way ever since he came back from Beverley Manor. Don’t you get the feel that something's wrong, Oswald?”
Oswald nodded. “l sensed something was off. Mr. Cedric is in a bad mood.”
“He’s in a terrible mood!” Baz had worked for Cedric for a long time now. He developed a keen sense of his master’s moods. “Are you going to keep standing outside, Baz?”
Baz started shivering, “I’m scared...
Oswald glanced at the shivering five—foot—nine man and shook his head. “Do what you want, then. Mr. Cedric will see you when his mood improves.”
Oswald was about to turn and leave when he saw dried blood on the ground.
“Where did the blood come from?”
“Blood?” Baz followed Oswald's line of sight and looked. Then, he stared at Cedric.
Oswald realized something. “W-Was Mr. Cedric bleeding?”
Baz took a deep breath, “W-Was he injured again? Was it Ms. Maia’s doing?” Anyone with half a mind could guess that it was probably her again.
“Mr. Cedric...” He might be a scary man, but Baz and Oswald’s concern for him overcame their fear.
“Huh?” Cedric answered softly. Baz shoved Oswald in front of him when he heard Cedric’s reply.
Oswald shook his head again. Baz was such a coward. Then, he asked, “Are you hurt, Mr. Cedric?”
“Just a minor injury.”Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“You have to get it checked. It had to be sanitized and taken care of. The weather’s hot. Injuries could get infected easily.” Cedric merely sneered. He thought nothing of it. He said slowly, “Let it scab. | learned my lesson.”
Baz realized what was happening when he heard what his master said. He patted Oswald’s back gently and said, “It must've been Ms. Maia again. She hurt him both physically and emotionally. Mr. Cedric’s hurt bad...”
Cedric threw his cell phone at Baz instantly. It hit Baz right in the head.
Oswald grinned and said quietly, “You had it coming! You should’ve kept quiet!”
