Cedric watched Maia closely as he comforted her through the megaphone. When Mala heard his voice, she turned to look at him, her face still pale from fear. She knew that he was coming toward her.

As his boat was closing in, an arm shot out of the water and grabbed the edge of the boat that Maia was in. Seconds later, Maia felt a grip on her ankle, and she was dragged into the water

100. 100. Without a second thought, Cedric dove straight into the water as Baz shouted after him in panic.

Maia could not hear a thing as she struggled in the water. She could feel herself losing air as she tried to swim toward the surface. However, she was still too weak and her body felt heavier the more she struggled.

As she was about to lose her consciousness, a pair of sturdy arms grabbed her and swam toward the surface. The moment Cedric resurfaced from the water with Maia, Theo’s men

started shooting the waters around him.

Instead of letting her go, he shielded her with his body as gunshots were heard around them. She was his life! He would not let anything harm her!

Maia started gasping for air the moment they got to the surface. She could feel herself being embraced by a pair of strong arms as she struggled to keep her eyes open. Maia felt a bittersweet sensation tugging at her heart as she looked at him.

Maia saw a bullet hit one of his arms and she could immediately smell the scent of blood. Maia struggled with the pain in the back of her head as she wanted to ask about his condition.

Unfortunately, she had no strength left in her, and she soon felt herself drift into unconsciousness.

After a barrage of shots, Cedric’s men had managed to kill Theo’s. They immediately helped. Cedric and Maia up onto the speedboat.

“Move aside!” Cedric did not release his grip on Maia as he looked at her with concern. He could not lose her again!

The speedboats went as fast as they could to the nearest dock. No one said anything as Cedric embraced Maia tightly throughout the journey.

When they got to the hospital, Maia was admitted into the emergency ward. Even though Cedric was injured, he did not once leave her side.

“Mr. Cedric, the doctors will take care of Ms. Maia. She will be alright. Could you first let us remove the bullet in your shoulder?” Cedric remained silent as he continued to stare at Maia who was lying on the bed.

“Mr. Cedric, I-” Cedric glared at Baz when he tried to reason with him. Baz immediately kept. quiet.

After a short internal struggle, Baz decided he had to get Cedric to treat his wound. Even if it means he would be yelled at!

“Mr. Cedric, if you won’t allow us to treat your wound now, this may lead to further

complications. When Ms. Maia wakes up, do you want her to see you in pain? She would feel guilty and may even get mad at you!”

Baz went on. “Besides, if your arm had an infection because of this, would you still be able to embrace Ms. Maia freely? You would even lose a fight against Nigel!”

Baz knew that he had to use Maia in order to get Cedric to cooperate. “Please, think about how Ms. Maia would feel!”

Cedric gave in as he instructed Baz to get the doctors ready.

Baz ran out to get the doctors who were already waiting. They quickly prepared Cedric for surgery and took out the bullet. Right after hishetic to wear off. Cedric waited till the doctors were done with Mala

Right after his surgery, Cedric rushed back to waiting outside the emergency ward without even waiting for his

and placed her into a VIP room for recovery.

Baz had underestimated his boss's love for Maia. Cedric had refused to leave Maia’s side. Baz wanted nothing but for Maia to regain her consciousness so that she could send Cedric to rest.

Inside the room, Cedric sat by Maia’s bed. He held her hands as she slept in peace. He would stay there for as long as it took her to recover.

All he wanted was for her to be safe. There was nothing he would not do for her.

Maia was not sure how long she had slept as she had a long dream. She dreamed that the man she had wanted to see the northern lights with finally appeared. He walked toward her and pulled her into an embrace while whispering loving words into her ears.

However, moments later, the scene changed, and she saw him pushing her cruelly into a sea of flames.

“No!” Maia struggled in her sleep, her forehead covered in sweat.

“Maia!” Cedric cried as he tightened his grip on her head.

Seconds later, Maia jolted awake. The moment she opened her eyes, she saw his tired face and worried eyes.

She was caught off guard by his expression. She continued to study him quietly as the fear in her eyes gradually dissipated. It was as if time had stopped as he slowly pulled her into his embrace and comforted her. “It’s all okay now.”

Maia lay still in his arms, not knowing whether this was a dream or reality. She remained silent until the doctor came to check in on her again.
