Chapter 160
Chapter 160 Don’t Be Hard on Yourself “Ms. Maia, do you feel pain anywhere on your body?” Maia looked at the doctor and shook her head. She turned back to Cedric and continued to study him in silence.
After the doctor was done with the inspections, he turned to Cedric and said, “Mr. Cedric, the wound on the back of her head would probably hurt for a few more days. Since she’s awake
now, it means that she hasn’t suffered from a concussion.”
Cedric nodded and turned back to Maia.
When the doctor was walking out of the room, Maia finally spoke, “Why am | at the hospital?”
The doctor stopped in his tracks and turned around to ask, “Ms. Maia, you don’t remember how you got hurt?” Maia shook her head and turned to Cedric as she asked, “Honey, why was | injured?”
Cedric was surprised at the way Maia was addressing him. “What did you just call me?”
“D-Did | say something wrong? If you don’t like me calling you honey, then | won't. Please, don’t be mad.” Mala furrowed her eyebrows as she replied in confusion.
This Maia reminded him of the Maia that she was in the past. She used to be timid, but the she looked at him was not and this confused him.

“You can call me anything you want,” Cedric said gently. Then, he turned toward the doctor and asked sternly, “What’s going on here?”
The doctor tried to explain. “Even though Ms. Maia suffered an injury to her head, the force was not strong enough to cause any brain damage. It could be that the trauma of the event. caused selective amnesia. | suggest that you take her to see a psychiatrist.”
“Get me an appointment with a psychiatrist as soon as possible.”
“On it!” Baz replied and quickly left the room.
When they were alone once again, Cedric brushed a few of her loose strands of hair behind her ears.
“Honey, why are you looking at me like that?”
“It's because you look beautiful.
Maia was taken aback by his response, so she placed her hand on his forehead.
“Are you okay? You don’t usually talk to me like this.”
Cedric smiled, took her small hand into his and blew a light kiss on the back of it. “Don’t worry, there’s more to come in the future.”
Maia could feel her cheeks and ears flushing red. Seconds later, she looked at his arm hurt? What happened? Did we get hurt together?”
asked, “Are.
Cedric nodded. “Can you remember anything?”
and
Maia tried to recall what had happened. After a few seconds, she continued to frown and began to hit herself. “I don’t remember anything. Why am | here? What had happened?”
“It's okay. Don’t be too hard on yourself.” Cedric stopped her by pulling her into a hug. She did not reject him and stayed still in his embrace. She was just like a cat, laying gently in his arms, just like how she used to in the past.
Suddenly, a loud commotion came from outside.
“What do you mean Maia lost her memories? | don’t believe you! Let me in!” “Ms. Read, you can’t enter the room!’
“She is my niece! | have the right to see her! You can’t stop me!”
Shortly after, the door flew opened and Tess stomped in to see Cedric embracing Maia. Baz, on the other hand, was surprised. He did not expect to catch his boss and Ms. Maia in such an intimate position.
“Aunt Tess, are you hospitalized as well?” Maia asked in confusion as she noticed that Tess was wearing the same outfit as she was.
“Maia, you really don’t remember anything?” Tess asked in shock.
Maia just shook her head.
Tess immediately turned to Cedric who was hugging Maia and demanded angrily, “Mr. Cedric, what do you think you’re doing? Let go of my niece now! You're divorced!”
“We're divorced? When did we file for divorce?” Maia blinked in confusion as she tugged Cedric’s sleeve.
Cedric’s brows furrowed in distaste at the mention of the word ‘divorce’. He glanced at Tess and said abrasively, “Maia needs her rest, so you should leave.”
Before Tess could react, Baz immediately took over as he directed Tess toward the door, “Ms. Read, Ms. Maia really needs her rest.

Tess would not leave without a fight as she continued to persuade Maia. “Maia, it’s okay. It’s not your fault that you've forgotten everything. | can tell you everything that happened. Don’t trust the man next to you! He almost got you killed in that fire. Moreover, you're divorced!”
Maia blinked innocently as she sat upright and looked at Cedric, “Is that true? Are we divorced? | don’t remember. The last thing | could recall was you leaving for a business trip. | even asked you to bring a souvenir back for me.”
Her memory was stuck from two years back, before all the horrible things that had happened to her that led her to leave him with a broken heart.
“| told you. You don’t have to force yourself to remember anything.” Cedric did not want her much for her to bear, and to force herself. He was worried that those memories would be to”Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
Tess was just giving Maia more suffering.
Cedric was gradually losing his patience with Tess as he signaled Baz to get her out.
When Cedric pulled Maia in for a hug again, he noticed a strange look flash across her eyes.
