Chapter 165
“This man is too dangerous. He'll only bring you endless harm. You promised before to keep your distance from him, to cut ties completely... Maia, come back with us.”
Tess’s tone became noticeably gentler than before, and she looked at Maia with a loving gaze. This only solidified Maia’s conviction that Tess didn’t want her to have too much involvement with Cedric. But why? She couldn’t understand.
“Maia, please say something. Come back with us, okay?” Tess implored.
Maia, regaining her composure, immediately tightened her grip on Cedric’s hand and quickly hid behind him, saying, “No.” This further alarmed Tess. She looked at Errol, standing by the car, as if seeking
reinforcements, “Errol, convince your sister.”
Errol was also in a difficult position. He glanced at Tess and then at Maia, struggling as he gestured, “Sister, do you really want to go back with Cedric?”
Maia nodded, “Yes, | want to go back with him. | want to be with him.” “Sis, y-you've already divorced. You still want to go back with him?” Errol seemed helpless. It was evident he didn’t know how to persuade Maia.
Maia nodded again, her gaze firm. “| know we're divorced. Aunt has told me, but | can’t remember it anymore. | want to go back with him. | just want to be with the person | like. Maybe we can remarry!”
When Maia mentioned “remarry,” Tess’s expression visibly froze, but Cedric wore a smile on his face.
“Maia, if you remarry him, you'll regret it once you recover your memory!” Tess refused to give up. “Maia, come back home with us!”
Maia shook her head, adamantly refusing. The atmosphere became awkward, and Tess’s expression turned increasingly ugly.
Cedric paid no attention to anyone else, his focus remained solely on Maia. Even if she was acting, her expressions and words just now struck a chord in his heart.
He looked at Maia and asked indulgently, “Is your leg feeling weak? Should | carry you?”
Maia paused, then immediately nodded, smiling happily. “Sure!”
Subsequently, in full view of everyone, Cedric effortlessly lifted her up and walked toward the luxury car with its doors wide open. Leaning against his chest, Maia whispered, “Cedric, you're shameless!”
“How is carrying you shameless?”
“You...”Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
He’s blatantly taking advantage of her. How could she possibly refuse him?
He had just mentioned wanting a chance for her to stop resisting him. Had he forgotten what he said just a few days ago?
“Babe, I’m just dispelling their suspicions,” he explained.
Maia felt bewildered, her mind filled with questions.
He settled into the car, holding her in his arms. Next, the car door closed, and the window rolled down. Maia waved at them, “Errol, take Aunt Tess home! We'll have dinner together later!”
Errol nodded, looking utterly dazed.
As Tess watched Maia sit in Cedric’s car, she hurriedly descended the steps. When she attempted to catch up, the engine had already started, and the vehicle drove away.
Soon, the partition inside the car rose. When it did, Maia quickly shifted to the side. “Don’t you take advantage of me again. Keep your distance! The play for today is over!”
