Chapter 387
Chapter 387
Edward clenched his hands to calm himself down. "My friend's sister."
Edward's calmness made Bridget uncomfortable, and she felt her throat tighten. What did he mean?
His friend's sister?
Was he trying to get rid of her?
Edward used to care about her feelings, but now Edward was calm and indifferent, and she felt
suffocated because of that.
The door of the church opened, and the priest was standing in the middle waiting for them.
"Honey, let's go." The bride pulled Edward's arm.
Edward looked at Bridget and smiled. "I'm glad you came."
"Of course, I need to come here and give you my blessings." Bridget looked up. She was sad but still
pretended not to care.
Edward paused for a few seconds, seemingly hesitant, but in the end, he still walked into the church
with the bride.
Bridget stood there, watching their backs as they slowly walked towards the priest.
Edward used to circle her all the time. Now that he stopped doing that, Bridget couldn't accept it, but
she couldn't keep him.
She was used to Edward being nice to her.
Bridget turned around and couldn't look any longer. She didn't want to see Edward and another woman
get married. The priest's voice came from behind. "Bride, will you marry Mr. Guv?"
The bride answered, "Yes, I do."
The priest continued, "Will you be with him whether he is rich or poor, whether she is healthy or
unwell?"
The bride said, "Yes, I do."
The priest turned to Edward. "Groom, would you like to marry Miss Austen?"
Bridget paused and listened to Edward's answer.
Edward did not turn around and looked straight ahead. "I..."
"Edward!"
The moment Edward was about to answer, Bridget turned around and called him.
Edward turned around and stared at her silently.
He was looking forward to it, expecting Bridget to keep him.
Mrs. Collins and her husband stood up from their seats and walked towards Bridget, smiling. "Hello,
Bridget. There's a seat next to me. Come in and sit down."
Mrs. Collins pulled Bridget. Edward had not even returned home because of Bridget all these years.
Now that Edward was getting married, she would not allow Bridget to ruin the wedding.
Edward finally decided to give Bridget up. She would not allow Bridget to disturb him.
"Bridget, you and Edward have known each other since you were young. You won't cause trouble at his
wedding, right?" Mrs. Collins looked at Bridget.
If it was another girl who Edward had been chasing all these years and now appeared at his wedding,
Mrs. Collins would have chased her away. But it was Bridget. The Guv Family and the Jones Family Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
had been friends for a long time, so Mrs. Collins was still polite to Bridget.
She complained in her heart. Why wouldn't Bridget love her son?
Bridget never responded to Edward's love for so many years.
"Edward is stubborn and has suffered a lot. I scolded him many times for that. There's not only one
woman in the world. Bridget, am I right?" Mrs. Collins held Bridget's hand.
Bridget was not a fool. She understood what Mrs. Collins was saying.
"I'm sorry." Bridget's throat tightened. "I just wanted to congratulate Edward on his marriage."
"Okay, stay with us a few more days." Mrs. Collins asked her to sit down. "You've known Edward for so
many years. He must be happy that you came to his wedding."
Bridget didn't want to sit down and politely refused. "I have something else to do. I'm leaving soon."
She looked at Mrs. Collins. "Auntie, can I have a word with Edward?"
"Can you wait until the wedding is over? It's impolite to interrupt all of a sudden, don't you think?" Mrs.
Collins smiled decently.
Bridget pursed her lips and gently took off Mrs. Collins's hand, "Auntie, tell him for me."
"I know what he had done for me..." As she spoke, she looked at Edward. "I can feel it. But I didn't
cherish him. I'm deeply sorry for disappointing him. I wish him happiness forever.."
She turned around and left.
Edward's eyes turned red as he stared at Bridget's back.
He clenched his fists tightly and struggled for a long time in his heart. Bridget was important to him, so
he shouted, "Bridget!"
" Edward." The bride held Edward's arm tightly, afraid that he would leave on impulse.
Edward broke her hand. "Sorry."
He chased after Bridget.
He couldn't just let go of Bridget since he had been in love with her for so many years.
Mrs. Collins came over and grabbed him. "Edward, don't be silly anymore. Stay here and finish the
wedding. You're not allowed to go anywhere."
"Edward, if you dare to leave the church today, we are not your parents anymore." His father, who had
been silent, spoke.
He sat still but gave Edward a strict order.
"Don't worry us anymore." Mrs. Collins persuaded him.
Edward pursed his lips. "Mom, Dad, you know I love Bridget. Today, I'll ask her a question. If she never
likes me, I'll get married today and forget about her. And I won't let you down anymore."
Mrs. Collins didn't dare to make the decision. She looked at her husband, asking for his opinion.
They knew Edward's obsession with Bridget. Edward's father did not look at Edward and said
indifferently, "You have three minutes."
Edward got rid of Mrs. Collins's hand and ran out of the church. "Bridget."
Bridget looked back at him.
Edward gasped, and his adam's apple slid slightly. "I've liked you and have been chasing chased you
for many years. Today, I want to ask you if you like me."
Bridget looked at him. "Yes."
Edward lowered his head and smiled bitterly. He had done so many things for her, and she did have
feelings for him.
"Then stay here." Edward's eyes reddened.
Bridget shook her head. "Sorry, I can't."
She didn't know if Xavier was alive. She couldn't stay here.
Edward furrowed. "Why? Are you lying to me?"
"No."
"Then why can't you stay?"
"I... A lot has happened in my family..."
"Bridget, is this your excuse again? You can tell me the truth if you don't like me. You don't have to be
against your will and find an excuse to reject me!" Edward roared.
