Her Precious Baby

Chapter 198

Chapter 198

The bar manager led Sylas to a private room on the second floor. He pushed the door open to reveal a dim room reeking of the stench of alcohol.

Sylas looked around and saw piles of empty beer bottles on the table as well as on the floor. It was evident that Evander had had too much to drink.

After searching for a while, Sylas finally found Evander lying on the floor behind the couch.

The latter was hanging his head dejectedly with his hair covering his eyes, hiding his emotions.

The bandage on his injured arm was soaked with blood. As the blood dripped continuously onto the floor, he was still holding a beer bottle.

“Mr. Golding!”

Taken aback, Sylas immediately rushed forward and threw the bottle aside. “Y-You’re injured. Why are you still drinking? Your condition will get worse!”

My goodness! I’ve been working for Mr. Golding for so many years and I’ve never seen him in such a dejected state. It was as though he has lost his soul.

It was a heart wrenching scene. Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.

“Don’t touch me.”

Evander pushed Sylas away, annoyance evident in his eyes. Subsequently, as if his pain receptors were disabled, he continued fumbling around for the bottle of beer.

“Mr. Golding, please stop drinking. Talk to me about your problems. Since you’re still in love with Ms. Sorelle, you should take the initiative to go to her. I’m sure she won’t ignore you if you tell her how you feel,” advised Sylas anxiously.

Hearing that, Evander looked up at him and let out a self-deprecating chuckle. “It’s useless to say anything or plan surprises just to win her heart. She is a heartless woman.”

The very reason behind the immense pain he was feeling was that he had tried to fight for her but to no avail.

No matter what he did, Angeline was determined to leave.

Sylas’ heart clenched when he heard Evander’s dejected words, so much so that he began grumbling inwardly when he thought of Angeline.

Jeez. Why did she suddenly propose a breakup when things were going so well? Can’t she make things clear once and for all?

When his train of thought ended there, he suddenly recalled something and froze. He had been so busy lately that he forgot to inform Evander of something.

Hence, he hastily reminded Evander, “Mr. Golding, do you remember when you lost your diamond ring from Majestic Elite Jewelry at the hotel five years ago?”

“Yes. What about it?”

Evander gradually sobered up as he massaged his eyebrows, still suffering from a headache.

“Not long ago, one of the staff members of that shop gave me a call, telling me that a woman had been searching for the owner of the ring. I’m guessing it’s Floretta’s biological mother.”

Evander processed what he just heard.

Following that, his face clouded over as he asked solemnly, “Didn’t you say she was overseas before this?”

“I heard she had just returned to the country not too long ago, but I’m not sure where she is now. I’m afraid problems will arise if she found Ms. Floretta.”

“Any problem can be solved with money,” said Evander, his tone harsh and frosty. He felt even more frustrated upon recalling that bizarre accident five years ago.

On that fateful day, he had just signed a major contract with his business partner, and in the midst of that cheerful moment, he indulged in alcohol and got pretty drunk.

He remembered that a waiter had sent him back to his room amidst his drunken state. Feeling horrible from inebriation, he didn’t even wash up before collapsing in bed.

Never did he expect that at midnight, a woman would climb into his bed and caress his abdomen, making him lose control of himself as if a spark of passion was suddenly ignited in the dead of night.

He could not remember what happened next. By the time he regained consciousness, the woman was no longer around. He assumed she was after his money but fled because she was afraid of getting herself into trouble.

Ten months later, Evander received an anonymous document informing him the woman was pregnant and that he should transfer fifty million to get the child.

Everyone knew what happened next.

Therefore, Evander thought that a woman who would offer up her own body in exchange for money wouldn’t cause too much problem.

“Mr. Golding, you should stop drinking. I’ll send you to a nearby hospital to change your dressing for the wound.”

Sylas took the opportunity to persuade Evander when he saw the latter brooding.

Evander, who felt much better after drinking and venting his emotions, stopped behaving stubbornly.

Humming in agreement, he got up from the floor and glanced at Sylas before ordering, “Continue to track the woman down with the diamond ring lead. Don’t be careless.”

“I’ll do that right away.”

“Other than that, investigate Jonathan for me. Find out his relationship with Angeline.”

Sylas was momentarily stunned before he nodded. “Okay.”

After all that trouble, Mr. Golding still can’t let go of Angeline.

A few days later at the police station, someone arrived to bail Joseline out.

“Joseline, someone is here to bail you out. You’re free to go.”

The door to one of the cells creaked open, and Joseline, clad in plain prison uniform, came walking out while being grabbed by the police.

She was in low spirits and her face appeared pale without her makeup on.

Obviously, spending the whole week in jail had been torturous for her.

Upon arriving at the visiting room, Joseline frowned when she saw the man in black.

“Why are you here?”

Hearing her voice, the man turned around in his wheelchair and looked straight at Joseline. He took off his sunglasses, showing a pair of cunning eyes.

“Are you not happy? Are you wondering why it isn’t Hanson who came to bail you out?”

Joseline’s face fell when she heard what the man said. She glanced at the surveillance cameras and reminded nervously, “Henry, watch your mouth.”

“What are you afraid of? Your so-called husband has been busy entertaining guests all day. He never mentioned your name. I guess he has forgotten about you.”

“That’s enough.” Joseline stopped him from saying anything further before continuing in disbelief, “Hanson won’t do that to me. We have a child, so he won’t forget about me.”

Henry looked at her with sympathy and lamented her ignorance before saying, “I’ll wait for you outside.”

After that, he exited the station.

Joseline went to the changing room to change out of her prison uniform. After settling all the procedures, she walked out and got into Henry’s car.

She sat on the passenger seat and looked at the dense forest and the few people ahead of her as a tinge of hatred appeared in her eyes.

“I was surrounded by nothing but walls in the station, and apart from the officers, there were no other souls to be seen. It’s all thanks to Angeline that I was in this predicament.”

Henry was fiddling with the sunglasses in his hand when he asked casually, “Do you hate her?”

“Of course.”

Joseline slapped the dashboard of the car as her facial features contorted from hatred. “I can’t wait to chop her into pieces. By the way, she didn’t survive the fire, right?” she gritted out.

“You’re wrong. I don’t know why she’s so lucky, but she was rescued by Evander, and both she and the child are still alive and well.”

“What?”

Joseline flew into a rage and shot Henry an angry glare. “What kind of useless good-for-nothings did you hire to do these things? How can they mess up? Why is Angeline so lucky?”

It was the same five years ago.

Back then, they had arranged for an ugly hooligan to snatch Angeline’s virginity.

However, never in their wildest dreams did they expect Angeline to climb into Evander’s bed instead.
